My Faith Story is Tied to Theirs
I didn’t realize until I saw this movie that the high school students I so admired at my church were Christians who experienced The Jesus Revolution for themselves.
While I was half their age, the message of Jesus’ love and forgiveness penetrated my wounded heart just like it did theirs.
My mom and dad were getting divorced, and my dad was no longer around. When the pastor at our church explained that our sin separates us from God, but that Jesus died to bridge the gap, I didn’t hesitate to place my faith in him.
Once I confessed that I was a sinner (which I understood even at the age of 8), asked God for forgiveness, and accepted what Jesus had done on the cross as truth, it was so comforting to realize my relationship with God was secure from that moment on.
I can still see those older kids sitting in church, their Bibles open while they took notes from the message.
They had no idea how much their fiery faith served to ignite my own.
One of my friends who saw the movie said this:
“I absolutely loved this movie! Saw it twice. My oldest brother John was in high school in this Jesus movement era, and he was affected in a very similar way as is depicted in the movie. His life was transformed, and his walk drew me to the Lord as a young girl. His walk with the Lord has remained strong with the Lord all these years, as has mine.”
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ❤️

When Big Brother Goes to School 💙
One of the nice things about being a grandparent is that I don’t feel beholden to memorialize every single powerful moment of every single wonderful day.
When raising my own children, I often felt frustrated at the lack of time I could find to write in the individual journals I kept for each child.
Today I just give myself grace for those days gone by, knowing in my heart that even if I had been free to write all the livelong day, I still would have missed quoting a funny phrase here or describing an adorable facial expression there.
The moments worth remembering, they are so many.
Like this one.
When my daughter held her baby boy in the window so his 2 1/2 year old big brother could wave goodbye before heading to school, I felt the old angst rise up within me.
Hurry! Write this down! Your grandsons will want to read the story when they’re grown!
But, almost in the next breath, I realized that I have somehow, miraculously, blessedly learned to relax.
Laugh now, ponder later. Tuck the memories deep into my heart as timeless treasures. I don’t have to write down everything that happens for posterity’s sake. I need only allow myself to savor the sweetness as it comes.
Because there will be more. So.much.more.
